Wake Forest University Owned Properties

Description:

All off-campus houses that are owned and operated by Wake Forest University are listed on the Wake Forest Properties website. Each property is relatively large and typically consists of multiple bedrooms, a kitchen, common areas, and shared bathrooms.  These houses are located within walking distance of campus and provide the opportunity to live among peers but also maintain privacy with single bedrooms. Additionally, all houses have been renovated as of 2010.

Please keep in mind that these properties are popular among international students and space is limited. These are easily the most economic and give you the most for your money. If you think you would like to live in one of these houses, you are encouraged to reserve a room as early as possible.

Deacon’s Station

Description: The newest apartment complex to open near the Wake Forest University campus, these four-bedroom townhomes are fully furnished. Individual leases cover all utilities including internet & cable. Amenities include a free shuttle service to campus exclusively for Deacon Station residents, a computer lab, fitness center, coffee bar, salt-water pool, roommate matching service and planned social activities.

Description: The most popular apartment complexes for Wake Forest Students. All three in Winston-Salem located near campus are gated community with all the  usual amenities (i.e. pool, tennis courts, exercise room, laundry room etc.). These complexes are considered to be more luxurious and accordingly higher priced, more affordable with roommates.

Description: This is also one of your basic large gated apartment complexes with all of the usual amenities. It is within walking distance to WFU (approximately a 10-15 minute walk). There is also a grocery store, restaurants, and several other shops and stores located nearby.

Description: A nice apartment complex that is in a very convenient place in terms of shopping and proximity to campus. Many of the units overlook a small lake in the back of the property. It is also within walking distance of a shopping center that contains a large grocery store.

The Pines at Bethabara

Description: An upscale complex where the rent is significantly cheaper, and the units seem to be slightly larger in terms of square footage. The two-bedroom unit is very spacious and some units include a gas-burning fireplace that can be used to heat the apartment in the winter. The cost for the gas fireplace is included in the price of the rent. This complex also has a gated parking lot that is accessible by security code and security alarms installed in all units. Best value for the money if you are looking for a place that is nicer than your average apartment complex. Located in the same area as The Trails and The Woods.

Hunt Club

Description: Bordering historic Bethabara Park, the Hunt Club is a very nice and peaceful apartment complex. Although not within walking distance of WFU, it is located just a very short drive from campus. One of the selling points of this complex is that it provides instant access to the walking/jogging trail that surrounds the Bethabara Park.

Apartment Complexes Located Away from the Reynolda Campus

Country Club Road Area

Glendare Park

Description: The largest apartment complex in the area. It offers all of the amenities of the more expensive complexes, but this is one of the most economical places to live in Winston-Salem. The bedrooms in most of the units are located on the second floor (town-home style), so you don’t have to worry about any noise from above. Two big swimming pools and four tennis courts on-site are also nice features of this complex. If you don’t mind a short drive to campus, you might want to look into living in this complex.

Brookford Place

Description: Located off of Country Club Road, this complex could be classified as upscale, but the rental rates are relatively affordable. Most residents of this complex are young professionals, and it is equipped with a very nice pool, exercise facility, and tennis court. Each apartment has a very nice sunroom. Like its Country Club counterparts, it is conveniently located near a host of different shopping centers and grocery stores.

Description: This is a very nice, serene complex that is located amongst several apartment communities. Among all of the Country Club properties, this one is located the farthest from campus.
